Catching Catfish The Easy Way
I get some very strange fishing reports from readers; but, this one has to take the prize. We all know that we are blessed with a very plentiful population of catfish in our Lake. Often times we get reports of fishermen catching 50 to 100 fish a day in a party of four; however, this is the first time I have heard about someone catching a nice fish from a dangling, unattended line while the fisherman was taking a break.
This fisherman was taking a break from catching fish and stuck his rod in a rod holder with the line dangling in the water. When he came back to get the rod and start fishing, it already had a catfish on the line. Now I guess that is about as easy as it gets.
Check out the fishing report to get the lattest on the catfish!

My Dad left a line in the water like this on our dock one night. The next morning I went out to fish and there was a huge grass carp on the line. The grass carp wasn’t just laying there real calm like the catfish in this picture, it was pulling real hard trying to get off the line. I had to get my Dad to help me get the fish in and then after we got it, he made me throw it back in the Lake. We don’t have any more weeds in the Lake anymore and I didn’t want to throw it back; but, he said it was the law. It that true? Eric
Eric, your Dad is correct. See below:
Fishing Regulations
Most species are currently managed with statewide regulations. An exception is largemouth bass, which is subject to a 16-inch minimum length limit. A Triploid Grass Carp Permit is in effect on this lake. If a grass carp is caught, it must be immediately returned to the water unharmed.
You can read all the regulations at:
